I'm constantly searching for new craft projects. I found a lot of people using little glass pebbles to make things and wanted to try it myself. Many make magnets with them, but I wanted to try the pebbles on rings.
What you'll need:
*clear glass pebbles (found in the floral section of craft stores)
*images (magazines, photos, fabric, drawings, decorative paper)
*pencil (for tracing)
*scissors
*clear tape (optional)
*toothpick
*clear glue
*small round magnets or blank rings
The glue is the hardest part. Elmer's glue does not work. I tested it. Do not use super glue either. I used E600 glue. It worked really well for me. Any glass glue (something that works on smooth surfaces) that dries clear will work.
1. Create your images. Use one of the magnets or blank rings to trace around. Cut the images out with scissors. If you print out photos or draw pictures on regular paper stock, cover both sides of the cut out image with tape. This will keep the ink from smearing.
2. Next, you'll glue a pebble to an image. Use a toothpick to dab a small amount of glue onto the center of the flat side of the pebble. Press the pebble down onto the image. The glue should spread out to cover the image. Let dry.
3. Now, you can glue the pebble with image to either a magnet or ring. Use the toothpick to dab a small amount of glue onto the center of the magnet or ring. Press the pebble and magnet/ring together. Let dry.
This is a very simple project. Both kids and adults will love it. I'm not exactly sure what the dry time is on the glue, but you can test to see if it's still tacky or not.
